Hypocrites in the church prove people need grace, not that God failed.

Inconsistency in people is not an argument about God, though it is often used as one, usually by whoever was hurt and sometimes by whoever is looking for a reason to leave. A place that exists for people who need mercy will be full of people who need mercy, and the presence of failure inside it is exactly what you would expect. That does not excuse the harm any of it causes.

Hold both. Be honest about what you have seen, and be slow to let someone else’s failure decide what you believe.
