You don’t have to preach. Just be honest when someone asks why you’re different.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Most people are not waiting for an argument from you. What draws a question is a difference they notice: how you handle a loss, who you bother with, the sense that you are carrying something steadier than they are. When the question comes, it is theirs rather than yours, and an honest answer is all it asks for.

Stop preparing a speech nobody requested and prepare a plain answer instead, in your own words, about a minute long. Say the true version including the parts that are unresolved. Then go back to living in a way that makes someone curious, which is slower and works far better.
