The tragedy of wasted time is that you usually understand its value after spending it.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
You usually cannot feel the value of time while you have plenty of it, which is a genuine design problem rather than a failure of character. Understanding tends to arrive after a loss, an illness, or a birthday that lands differently, and by then some of the spending is done. Nobody manages to fully avoid this. What you can do is act slightly earlier than the understanding arrives.
Rather than trying to feel urgency you do not feel, borrow the conclusion. Ask what you would want to have done more of if you looked back from ten years out. Then adjust one thing now on that basis.
