Getting better is exciting. Staying better is maintenance, and maintenance is where most people slip.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Improvement has a natural reward and maintenance has none. Getting better produces visible change and a sense of momentum, while holding a standard produces nothing to look at, which is why so many people arrive somewhere good and then drift back without ever deciding to. The dull phase is where things are actually lost.
Decide what the upkeep version of your current best looks like and treat it as non-negotiable. Fewer sessions, smaller amounts, still there. Keeping a thing alive costs far less than rebuilding it from the start.
What did you build once and then stop maintaining?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
