Growing up includes accepting that your parents gave what they had, even when you needed more.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Parents hand on what they received, shaped by circumstances they mostly did not choose, and sometimes that is less than a child needed. Both things can be true at once: they gave what they had, and it was not enough. Holding both is harder than picking one, and it is more accurate.

You do not have to resolve this into a verdict. Let the disappointment be real and let the limitation be real too. Whatever was missing, you can look for some of it now, in other places and in how you treat people.
