Loyalty that means hiding someone’s wrong is just being an accomplice with a nicer word.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Covering for someone usually gets framed as loyalty, which is what makes it hard to see clearly. Concealment does not protect the person, it protects the behavior, and it puts you inside the behavior with them. Real loyalty can include telling someone the truth and staying beside them through what follows. Silence only makes you part of the story.
Tell them first, and tell them plainly, whenever you are holding something for someone that you know is wrong. Give them the chance to handle it themselves. Be clear about what you will and will not carry for them.
What have you covered for a friend and called loyalty?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
