Lose the argument well. People trust someone who can say “okay, you got me.”

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Conceding a point gracefully is rare enough to change how people see you, mainly because it shows your position was about the truth rather than about you. Someone who cannot lose an argument becomes impossible to reason with, and eventually people stop trying. Admitting you were beaten costs one exchange and buys long-running credibility. It also makes the next disagreement easier for both of you.

Next time someone is clearly right, say so in plain words and stop there. Do not soften it with a partial defence. Watch how fast the temperature drops.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

When did you last concede a point out loud?
