Taking out the trash before anyone asks is a loud way of being quiet.

Work done before it is asked for registers differently from work done after, because nobody had to spend anything to get it. It shows you were paying attention to the whole household or the whole job rather than only to your share of it. No announcement is needed, and making one would take something away. The act says it by itself.

Find something at home this week that needs doing and do it before anyone raises it. Resist mentioning it afterward. Being noticed is not the point, although you usually are.
