The goal of a leader is to become a little less necessary every month.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Being indispensable feels like security and is really a sign that nothing has been handed over. A group that cannot function without you has a ceiling set by your availability, and it stalls the moment you are unwell, busy or elsewhere. Working yourself out of the centre is the difference between building something and being the only load bearing part of it.

Pick one thing only you can currently do and teach it to somebody this month. Let them do it imperfectly the first few times. Repeat until the list of things that require you is genuinely short.
