Natural ability gets you a head start and then stops helping. What determines where you end up is whether you can hear a correction without treating it as an insult, because that is the only mechanism by which you improve after the easy gains run out. People who were good early often never had to build it.

When someone tells you what you are doing wrong this week, try saying only thank you and then trying it their way once. Notice the urge to explain yourself and let it pass. The ability to be taught is itself a skill that improves with use.
