Time heals less than people claim; often it simply gives perspective room to speak.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

The idea that time heals is only partly right and can leave people feeling they are failing when it does not. What time reliably does is create distance, and distance lets other perspectives get a word in alongside the pain. The pain often remains and it stops being the only thing in the room. That is a real improvement even though it is not a cure.

If something still hurts long after you expected it to, that is not a failure on your part. Give it time and give it help, since time alone does less than people say. What changes is usually the amount of room around it.
