Discernment separates what is urgent from what is merely loud.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Volume and urgency travel together often enough that the mind stops telling them apart. A ringing phone feels more pressing than a slow decline that will cost you far more, because one demands a response and the other simply waits. Most of what shouts at you in a day is loud on someone else’s behalf. The genuinely urgent things frequently arrive without any noise at all.
At the end of a day, look back at what took your attention and ask which of it would still matter in a month. If almost none of it does, the problem is not your effort but your filter. Try giving the first clear hour of your day to something quiet and important before the loud things get a chance to claim it.
