Everybody who looks like they have it figured out has at least one drawer they’re scared to open.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Composure is a surface, and surfaces are what other people get to see. Everyone carries something unresolved: a conversation postponed for years, a bill unopened, a fear they have never said out loud. You are comparing the whole of your inside, drawer included, to the outside of people whose drawers are simply not visible from where you stand.

If that comparison is running, remember that you are not seeing the full inventory of anyone. When you can, open one of your own drawers slightly, with someone safe. It is usually smaller once it is out in the room.
