Good judgment knows when another person’s expertise should outrank your intuition.

Intuition is compressed personal experience, and it works well inside the range of what you have lived. Outside that range it is confident and uninformed. Someone who has spent years in a domain has seen failure modes you cannot imagine, and their sense of what will go wrong is worth more than your feeling about it. Deferring there is not a loss of independence; it is knowing where your own evidence runs out.
When your gut disagrees with someone who knows more, say so plainly and ask what you might be missing. If their answer explains the gap, update. If they cannot explain it, your unease may be worth keeping. Either way, the question is better than silent compliance or silent dismissal.
