The goal always looks bigger from the bottom. Enjoy it anyway when you get there, even if it’s smaller up close.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Distance inflates things. From below, a goal looks as though it will change everything, and standing on it, it is usually smaller and more ordinary than advertised. That is no reason to skip it, but it is a reason to stop waiting for arrival to do the work of a whole life.

When you reach somewhere you wanted, mark it properly before naming the next one. Notice who helped and tell them. Keep some of your satisfaction in the days themselves, since that supply never depended on the summit being impressive.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which achievement felt smaller once you finally reached it?
