Excitement can make risk look smaller than it is.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Enthusiasm changes what you can see. When a possibility lights you up, the downside arguments become faint and the obstacles look like details to be handled later. This is not stupidity; it is how motivation works, and without it nobody would start anything. But the same mechanism that gets you moving also quietly suppresses the part of you that would have asked what happens if this fails.
When you are excited, deliberately borrow a colder pair of eyes. Ask what the most cautious person you respect would want to know, and answer those questions before committing money or time. If it survives the cold reading, go all in with a clearer conscience.
What did enthusiasm once talk you into underestimating?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
