Your zip code can tell someone where you sleep. It can’t tell them where you’re headed.

Where you come from carries real weight, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest, since circumstances open and close doors that have nothing to do with effort. What an address actually reports is your current conditions. It holds no information about direction, which gets decided over years by what you build and who you become. People will read far more into it than it says.

When somebody uses where you live as a prediction, including when that somebody is you, treat it as a description of now. Then make one decision this week that points where you want to go.
