Resentment sometimes begins where an expectation existed only inside one person’s head.

A great deal of accumulated bitterness rests on agreements that were never made. You expected them to notice, to offer, to reciprocate, to understand what you needed without being told, and when they did not, it registered as a failure on their part. From their side there was no failure, because there was no request. The debt existed in only one ledger.
When resentment builds, ask whether the other person actually knew what you were expecting. If they did not, the honest next step is a request rather than a grievance. Saying what you want out loud feels risky and exposing, and it prevents years of quiet accounting that the other person never had a chance to settle.
What have you expected from someone without ever telling them?
