Put a mic too close to its own speaker and it screams. Only hearing yourself does that to people too.

A closed loop amplifies whatever is already inside it until the sound becomes unbearable. When every source agrees with you, a mild opinion comes back slightly louder each time, and after enough cycles you hold a far more extreme version of it. Nobody chose that escalation, the arrangement produced it.

Put one genuine outside voice in range, someone who is not performing disagreement but simply thinks differently. Read something you expect to dislike, all the way through. The aim is not to be talked out of anything, only to break the loop before it starts ringing.
