Shaking the vending machine rarely works, and people try it anyway. Frustration isn’t a strategy.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
When effort stops producing results, the instinct is to apply the same effort harder rather than to change the approach. Force feels like agency, which is why it persists after it has stopped working, and the intensity of your frustration says nothing about the method. Some situations do not respond to pressure at all.
When you notice yourself escalating, stop for one minute and ask what a completely different approach would look like. Read the instructions, ask for help, or walk away and come back. The pause is not giving up, it is where you stop paying for a method that already failed.
What do you keep forcing when it clearly is not working?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
