You’re treating a comma like a period. The sentence isn’t over.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

A pause in the middle of something can be mistaken for its ending, and the mistake is expensive, because you stop where the meaning was not yet complete. A setback, a gap year, a quiet stretch, a rejection: each one is a break in a sentence that is still being written. A full stop is a different mark and it feels different.

Look at whatever you recently declared finished and ask whether anything actually ended or whether it just paused. If the thing you wanted is still what you want, write the next clause.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Have you called something over that is still going?
