Chess players have a name for a move that just waits. Sometimes the strongest play is not rushing.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Doing nothing can be an actual move rather than the absence of one. Holding your position, improving it slightly, and letting the other side commit first is a real strategy with a name, and it wins games. What looks like passivity from outside is often the most demanding choice available, because it requires tolerating an unresolved situation.

When you feel pressure to act just to feel active, ask whether waiting improves your position. If it does, wait on purpose and say so to yourself, so it does not turn into drift. A deliberate pause and a stall look identical and feel nothing alike.
