A game with no timer and no end is boring. The clock is what makes every move matter.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Limits are what create stakes. With no end to anything, no choice would cost you another choice, and nothing in particular would be worth doing. The pressure you feel from time running is the same thing that gives your decisions any weight.

Instead of resenting the clock, use it as information. Put a deadline on the thing that has been drifting, even an invented one, and watch how quickly it becomes real. A move only counts when it could have been a different move.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Would you bother with anything if time never ran out?
