Patience isn’t sitting still. It’s staying in the fight when it’s gone quiet.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

The hard part of endurance is not the intense stretch. It is the long flat section after the drama ends and before anything resolves, when nobody is watching, nothing is happening, and there is no obvious reason to continue except that you said you would. That is where most things are actually decided.

Give the quiet part a structure, since it will not supply its own. A fixed time, a small daily amount, one person who knows what you are doing. Then measure attendance rather than results while the results are absent. Staying present through the boring stretch is trainable.
