Not everyone who visits your house gets a copy of the key. Same goes for your heart and your schedule.

Warmth and access are two separate grants, and treating them as one is how people end up overcommitted to those they barely know. Somebody can be welcome in your life without having standing to interrupt it. The distinction is not coldness, it is having more than one setting available.

Look at who currently has open access to your time and whether each of them earned it or simply arrived early. Adjust one, quietly. You can stay perfectly friendly with somebody who no longer gets same-day availability.
