Hitting snooze five times isn’t rest. It’s watching the first episode of your day on buffering.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Broken sleep after the alarm is not the same as sleep. You spend twenty minutes half under, never deep enough to restore anything and never awake enough to begin, and arrive at the day already behind your own body. The tiredness that follows gets blamed on the morning when it was made in that gap.

Notice how you feel on the days you get up on the first alarm compared with the days you negotiate. If mornings are genuinely hard, the fix usually sits earlier in the night rather than in those nine minutes. Set the alarm for when you mean to rise, and let that be the whole decision.

How do your first ten minutes awake usually go?
