Justice becomes dangerous when certainty arrives before investigation.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

The order matters enormously: investigate, then conclude. Reversed, the investigation becomes a search for confirmation, and it will succeed, because there is always something that fits. Once certainty has arrived early it recruits everything afterward, and the process that was supposed to protect against error becomes the thing that dresses the error in legitimacy.

If you are looking into something, write your working hypothesis down and then deliberately look for what would contradict it. Ask the people who would tell you something inconvenient. If nothing you find could possibly change your mind, you are not investigating, and it is better to know that now.
