A rejection read one page of you. It didn’t read the book.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A no is almost always a response to a fragment. Whoever gave it saw one application, one afternoon, one narrow slice chosen for one particular need, and they were deciding about fit rather than worth. That is a real limit on what the answer can possibly mean about you.

Let the disappointment be the size it is, and then do not let it grow into a conclusion. Ask what you can learn about the fit rather than about yourself. Then send the next one sooner than feels comfortable, because a single page is a poor summary of anybody.
