If you can’t explain what you want to yourself, don’t be shocked when nobody else understands it either.

Vague wanting is difficult to help. If the thing you are after cannot survive being said in one plain sentence, it is not yet a want so much as a feeling pointed in a rough direction, and nobody else can act on a direction. The confusion is usually in the wanting, not in their listening.
Write what you want in a single sentence, with no qualifiers. Rewrite it until it is short enough to say out loud without explaining. That exercise sorts out an unexpected amount on its own, and it gives the people around you something they can actually respond to.
Could you say plainly what you want in one sentence?
