Changing your mind after learning more isn’t flip-flopping. It’s what learning is supposed to do.

REFLECTION
Updating a view when the evidence changes is the entire mechanism by which anyone learns anything. The accusation of inconsistency confuses two different things: changing position because it is convenient, and changing because you found out more. Only the first is worth worrying about, and the second is usually being punished by people who have not looked.
Say why you changed rather than just changing. Name what you learned and what it replaced. That one sentence turns what looks like inconsistency into an account of your reasoning, and it also keeps you honest about which kind it was.
What belief have you quietly updated but never admitted out loud?
