Advice gets handed out free on every corner. A sharp question you pose to yourself is rarer and worth more.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Advice is abundant because giving it is easy and costs nothing. A good question is rarer, and it does something advice cannot: it makes you produce an answer from inside your own situation, which is where all the relevant detail actually lives. Nobody else has enough information to be as useful as a well-aimed question you ask yourself.
Collect a few that work on you. What am I avoiding, what would I do if this were easy, who am I doing this for. Ask one of them on purpose this week rather than waiting for it to occur to you.
What question could you ask yourself that no adviser has raised?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
