A whole committee argues inside your skull before each big choice. Make sure fear isn’t chairing the meeting.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Big choices are made by several parts of you at once, and they do not carry equal weight. Fear speaks early, loudly and in the language of caution, which makes it sound like the responsible voice rather than one interest among several. Curiosity and ambition tend to speak later and more quietly.

Before you decide, give the other voices a proper turn. Ask what the least frightened version of you would say, and what you would choose if the downside were survivable. Fear still gets a vote. It just should not be the one summarising the discussion.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which recent choice was really fear making the call for you?
