Decide on the drive over what you won’t do tonight. The hardest no’s are the ones you try to make on the spot.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Refusals are much harder to make in the room than outside it. On the spot there are faces, momentum and a very short time to think, and whatever you decided in principle tends to give way to the atmosphere. Deciding beforehand means the moment requires remembering rather than reasoning.
Name one or two specific things you will not do before you arrive. Keep it concrete rather than general. You are not predicting the whole evening, only removing the two decisions that would have been hardest to make while everyone was watching.
Before you arrive, which line will you not cross tonight?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
