Finish one project that nobody asked for and nobody will see. It trains you to follow through for your own reasons.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Work made for an audience is partly performance, and the applause quietly becomes the reason you finish. Remove the audience and you find out whether you can follow a thing through on your own say-so, which is a different muscle entirely. It transfers too, because the habit of finishing is not fussy about which project taught it.

Pick something small and pointless that genuinely interests you and see it to the end. Post nothing. When it is done, notice that the only thing you gained was proof that you finish things, and that this is not a small gain.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What could you finish purely because you said you would?
