Try one new class, food or sport this year. Every new thing is a question you get to ask yourself.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

New experiences are a way of asking a question you cannot answer from the armchair. You do not know whether you like climbing, or a language, or cooking with your hands, until you have been mildly bad at it for an evening. Preferences get discovered rather than deduced, and most people stop discovering earlier than they need to.

Pick one thing this year that you have no reason to be good at, and try it three times before judging. Three is roughly where the novelty wears off and the real answer shows. Keep it or drop it with no ceremony either way.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What new thing could you try before this year ends?
