Choices made while everyone’s yelling tend to belong to whoever yelled loudest.

REFLECTION
Volume is not an argument, though it works like one when everybody is talking at once. In a loud room the decision follows whoever pushed hardest, and afterward nobody can quite explain why that option won. The choice belonged to the noise rather than to anyone in it.
When something is being decided and the room is hot, ask for it to wait until tomorrow. If waiting is impossible, at least say out loud what is being decided and why. One slow sentence changes the temperature more than matching the volume ever does.
