Build the skill quietly for a year. Nobody needs to see the ugly middle.
CREATIVITY
CREATIVITY
The middle of learning anything is ugly, and it is much easier to endure with nobody watching. Announcing early creates an expectation of progress, and then you start making the choices that look like progress rather than the ones that build the skill. Privacy protects the awkward stage from your own self-consciousness.
Pick something you want to be good at and give it a year with no commentary. Tell one person if you need someone to answer to. When it finally surfaces it will be a real thing rather than a long series of updates about a beginner.
What skill would you start if nobody watched the first year?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
