You can honor your family without becoming a photocopy of them.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Respect and replication are different things, though they often get confused inside families. You can carry what was good, the work ethic, the humor, the way they treated neighbors, and still decline the parts that do not fit the life you are actually living. Taking everything unedited is not loyalty; it is a failure to choose.
Make the inheritance explicit. Name two things you want to keep and one you are setting down, and notice that you can do the second without a confrontation. Living differently is not a verdict on them, and often it does not need discussing at all.
What did you keep from your family and make yours?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
