People don’t trust your best day. They trust your average one.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Peaks are not useful for prediction, which is what trust actually is. Anyone can produce one excellent performance, and nobody can plan around it; what people need is what they will get from you on an ordinary day when nothing is at stake. Your baseline is the thing being evaluated, whether or not anyone says so.

Raise the floor rather than the ceiling this month. Pick the thing you do inconsistently and make the poor version of it acceptable, rather than making the good version better. Being predictable is undervalued right up until someone has to depend on you.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What does your average day tell people about you?
