Equipment is the easiest variable to change and the least important one. Buying the better version gives a genuine feeling of progress, which is why it appeals most when the work is going slowly, and it quietly substitutes for the part that would make the difference. Technique and repetition are cheap and dull. They are also the only things that move.
Before buying anything, spend two weeks on the basics with whatever you already own. Film yourself, or ask someone who knows to watch your form. Upgrade later, once you have reached the limit of what you have.
What gear have you bought instead of doing the work?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
