“I tried everything” usually means you tried two things, twice. Be real with the count.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Effort is easy to overstate, because trying feels expensive. Two attempts at the same approach can feel like exhaustive work, especially when both failed and both were unpleasant, and the memory of the discomfort stands in for the range of what was actually tried. An honest count usually produces a much shorter list. That is good news, since it means there is road left.

Write down what you tried, one line for each attempt. Look at whether they are variations on a single idea. Then find a genuinely different third option before deciding the situation is closed.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

How many real attempts did you make before quitting?
