A strong finish needs a body that didn’t burn out in the first half. Pace your hard seasons too.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Pacing is obvious in a race and strangely invisible everywhere else. The same arithmetic applies to a term, a season, a long stretch of work: effort spent early at an unsustainable rate is borrowed from the end. People who collapse in March usually did not fail in March. They overspent in October, and the bill simply took a while to arrive.

Look at the shape of the next three months and find where the real demand sits. Then deliberately hold something back in the easier weeks, even when you could do more. Having something left in April is a decision you are making now.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where are you spending too much too early this year?
