Learning to fall safely is part of every risky sport. Learning to fail safely is part of every risky life.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Falling is trained explicitly in anything dangerous, because the fall is not optional and the only variable is what it costs. The same logic applies to attempts that might not work. If you intend to try ambitious things, you will fail at some of them, and the useful skill is arranging matters so a failure is survivable rather than ruinous. That is not pessimism. It is what makes the risk affordable.

Before the next attempt, work out the worst realistic outcome and what would soften it. A fallback option, money set aside, somebody told in advance.
