Recovery is boring. That’s exactly why so many people skip it and end up hurt again.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Rest and rehab have no drama in them, which is exactly why they get skipped. There is nothing to show anyone, no sense of effort, and no feedback that day, so it feels like doing nothing while the clock runs. The people who get hurt a second time are rarely lazy. They are usually bored and impatient.

Treat the dull part as the session rather than as a gap between sessions. Put it in the same place in your day so it stops needing a decision. If boredom is the real obstacle, pair it with something: a show, a podcast, a friend doing theirs at the same time.
