The rider stays in the saddle by moving with the horse, not by fighting every step.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Staying on is not achieved by rigidity. A rider who braces against every movement gets thrown, while one who moves with the animal stays balanced through things that look far worse. Most hard situations work the same way: the people who last are not resisting every change, they are adjusting faster than things move.

Look at where you are currently braced: a rule you are enforcing, a plan you will not alter, an idea of how a week should go. Try letting one of them move with what is actually happening. Being flexible about small things is usually what lets you hold the big ones.
