Not every bad day has a lesson. Sometimes it’s just a bad day. Go to bed.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Not everything needs to mean something. Searching a bad day for its lesson keeps you awake turning it over, and plenty of days are just tiredness, bad timing and other people’s moods rather than a message about your life. Looking for the moral can be a way of staying in the day longer than you need to.

If today was bad and no obvious lesson turns up in a few minutes, let it go unexamined. Eat something, put the phone down and sleep, because sleep is the actual remedy for most of this. If a real pattern is forming, it will still be there tomorrow and easier to see.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Could you let one bad day end without extracting a lesson?
