Mentoring someone younger is one of the fastest ways to find out what you actually believe.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Explaining something to a person who does not know it forces you to decide what matters, in what order, and what you were only repeating. Half-held opinions do not survive a direct question from somebody taking you seriously. You end up hearing your own advice out loud and noticing which parts you do not follow. The discomfort is the useful bit.

Offer an hour this month to somebody two or three years behind you in whatever you do. Answer their questions plainly rather than performing. Afterwards, write down the one thing you told them that you are not currently doing yourself.
