The unlikely eventually happens because “unlikely” never meant “impossible.”

RESILIENCE
Small probabilities are not zero, and time keeps drawing from the deck. Given enough attempts, enough people, and enough years, the improbable stops being an exception and becomes a schedule. What surprises you is usually not that the rare thing happened but that it happened to someone you know.
Where the downside would be serious, plan as though the unlikely will eventually arrive. A backup, an insurance policy, a second copy of what matters. Where the downside is small, let it go and stop paying rent to worry that has nowhere useful to land.
What have you ruled out entirely that is merely improbable?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
