Most principal dancers spent years in the corps de ballet first. The back row is where the front row gets built.

LEADERSHIP
The back row is not a waiting area, it is the training. Years of doing the same work with less attention on you is where technique becomes automatic, where you learn the whole piece and how a company actually runs. People who skip that tend to be fragile the moment something goes wrong. Your position in a line says very little about what stage of development you are in.
Treat your current ordinary role as the place you get good rather than the place you get noticed. Learn one thing each week that nobody required of you.
What are you learning in the back row right now?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
