Want to be known in your field someday? Start by being helpful in your small corner of it.

Reputation is not announced, it accumulates from people who were glad they dealt with you. Long before a field knows your name, the people immediately around you already have an opinion, and that is what gets passed along when someone asks. Being useful in a small circle is the only version of this that starts anywhere real.

Look at the corner you are in: your team, your class, your shift. Be the one who answers the question, shares the notes, or stays to stack the chairs. Do that for a few months and notice who starts asking for you by name.
